New Hope Intergenerational Day Service
Adult / Child Day Care

New Hope is an intergenerational day care program that provides service to aging adults and to children. New Hope is licensed by the state of South Dakota as a group family day care home, and it is certified as an Older Americans Act Title III Adult Day Care Program. The program began in 1997 as an adult day program, and in 2000, it became intergenerational when the child care component was added. This service is available to all, regardless of race, nationality or creed, who may benefit from this type of program.

The staff to participant ratio is kept high with no more than five participants to one staff person. This helps to keep the program individualized to better meet the needs of each participant of the program no matter what their age. A well-balanced program of activities is provided for both the young and the elderly, as well as a blend of intergenerational activities.

A menu prepared by the Bethel Home dietary staff is served family style during meals that are attended by both the adults and the children. Provisions are made for those on special diets.

Should an adult participant of New Hope need other services within the Bethel Community, they are given priority consideration for admission into the apartments, the assisted living facility or the nursing facility.
